The production seven-seater Jeep SUV could be based on the Yuntu concept with traditional styling and perhaps preview the Grand Wagoneer

The Jeep Yuntu concept could be soon heading its way into the production lines as the American SUV manufacturer seems to have filed these renderings with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. It seems to be an obvious evolution of the existing design language glancing over these pictures and could come as an accessible volume seller for the brand

It will be a brand new addition to the Jeep’s range and it comprises of a new front bumper with sleek seven-slot grille assembly. It is more traditional in a way the Jeep vehicles have always been and has a retro styling. It also gains tamed air intakes and the headlamps in usual fashion.

The overall profile of the crossover has been restyled with large rear window on both sides for better visibility and features conventional door handles. At the rear, the tailgate mounted spoiler is brand new and there is also presence of reworked tail lamps, bumper assembly and a twin exhaust system.

It is expected to go on sale in China sometime next year and will be produced in collaboration with the Guangzhou-Fiat joint venture. Although no official statements have been made, the Yuntu based production crossover could most likely sit on the same platform as the Cherokee.

But there is a huge twist in the tale. The Yuntu could be restricted to select markets or that it is likely to be made available in China only. Jeep has plans for a new Grand Wagoneer which is slated to launch in the third quarter of next year but it might be slightly delayed as well. It is believed to be constructed at the Warren Truck plant in Michigan on a body-on-frame chassis.
