Skoda sold 500 units of Octavia RS within 13 months of launch and the company don’t have any more units allocated for India this year

Skoda officially introduced the Octavia RS in September 2017 at Rs. 24.62 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The killer pricing of Octavia RS meant that the first batch of 300 units sold out in no time and the company had to stop bookings for some time. In July, Skoda allocated an additional 200 units to India.

The company has sold the second batch also and now they don’t have any allocation for this year. Skoda has requested its dealers not to take bookings of Octavia RS. Even though the performance market is very small in India, Skoda was able to sell 500 units of Octavia RS within 13 months of launch, which is really good.

The Octavia is always popular among enthusiasts in India due to its versatile nature. The icing on the cake for this new model was its pricing. We can expect Skoda to allocate more units for India considering the popularity of the Octavia RS. The exterior difference compared to the regular model is subtle.

The front gets revised grille along with dual split adaptive headlamps and a new sporty bumper with LED DRLs. The company has also given a sporty body kit and new 17-inch alloy wheels with low profile tyres. Skoda reduced the ground clearance by 15 mm and the black finish for pillars and wing mirrors increases sporty appeal.

The rear also gets a new bumper along with a small lip spoiler and dual chrome-tipped exhaust pipes on either side. The interior is finished in black colour with Alcantara sports seat and a new three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. Skoda has packed the Octavia RS with features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control and more.

The Octavia RS comes with lots of safety features like 9 airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control system, stability control system, park assist system and more. The 2.0 L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine produces 230 hp of power at 6,200 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 4,600 rpm.

The power is sent to front wheels via a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifter behind the steering wheel. According to Skoda, the Octavia RS can do 0-100 kph in just 6.8 sec and top speed is limited to 250 kph. The company has also given limited slip differential to improve handling and the performance sedan is available in four colours – White, Red, Grey and Blue.
