Toyota Vellfire Hybrid MPV could be showcased at Auto Expo 2016; powered by 2.5 and 3.5 litre engines alongside a hybrid drivetrain
Toyota-Kirloskar could showcase the Vellfire MPV at the approaching Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. The Asia’s biggest motor show will be hosted between February 5-9 at the India Expo Mart.
With the huge line-up of companies, it’s shaping up to be the grandest stage in India for automotive, component and technological manufacturers to display their new products and innovations. That includes Toyota who is most likely to reveal the Vellfire with an attractive hybrid drivetrain.
Toyota Vellfire Hybrid MPV Price
The Vellfire can be configured as seven or eight seater and prices start from Rs. 17.62 lakh and goes as high as Rs. 36.6 lakh for the Japanese market.
Toyota Vellfire Hybrid MPV Engine and Performance
The engine line-up remains identical to its elder sibling Alphard as the Vellfire minivan churns out 180 hp of maximum power from a 2.5-litre engine that comes mated to a seven-speed step Sports Sequential Shiftmatic Super CVT-i automatic transmission with optional start and stop system.
The more powerful 3.5-litre mill puts out 276 hp and is coupled with a six-speed Super ECT automatic gearbox. The top-of-the-line model gets a four-wheel drive electric powertrain linked with a 2.5-litre 150 hp engine. The 141 hp electric motor up front and 67 hp motor at rear help boost fuel efficiency to a claimed 19.4 kmpl.

The new Vellfire comes equipped with sumptuos cabin, an automated steering control for parking assist, standard LED illuminated roof, a panoramic view monitor with see-through glass function, radar cruise control, double-wishbone rear suspension replacing torison beam setup, enhanced cabin soundproofing, collision detection and aversion systems at lower speeds.

The 2015 version of Vellfire MPV, which is basically a spurred up sportier model of the Alphard, was launched last January. Both MPVs are based on the same platform with the latter being a luxurious vehicle whilst the Vellfire has added style and flare to its credits.
The boxy luxury MPV has huge silver bars running across the front fascia that makes the vehicle imposing with a taller stance whilst the rear-end is rather left simple with horizontal taillamps.
Although the chances of this model making it to our domestic stage is highly unlikely in the foreseeable future as Innova has been a huge success, we expect Toyota to debut the MPV next month at the Delhi Auto Expo.
