6. Ford Figo Aspire: 

Figo Aspire has been the company’s first production compact sedan model that entered a lucrative segment via launch in August. Pitted against the likes of Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Honda Amaze, the sub-four metre car astonishingly debuted with the August sales figure of over 5,000 units.

But in the following months, it has faced the wrong end of the scale and ended October with 3,041 units – more than 500 cars down in comparison to the previous month. The base model of Figo Aspire gets a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT engine producing 88 PS @ 6300 rpm and 112 Nm @ 4000 rpm of peak torque mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Whereas the 1.5-liter TDCi can produce 100PS of power and 215Nm of torque, the third engine in the line-up, the 1.5-liter Ti-VCT is tuned to generate 112 PS @ 6300 rpm and 136 Nm @ 4250 rpm of torque coupled with a 6-Speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

5. Ford Figo: 

2015 Ford Figo India hatcback launched

Rolled out of production lines in August, the 2015 Ford Figo hatchback enjoyed a productive October with growing sales figures. At 3,534 units, it is significantly less in relation with main rival Maruti Suzuki Swift which seemingly sets new benchmark every month but the progression is, nonetheless, encouraging.

The first-generation Figo motors have been replaced with Petrol variants, featuring a new 1.2-litre TiVCT 4-cylinder motor and a more powerful 1.5-litre TiVCT with 6-speed dual clutch Powershift Automatic transmission, generate 88 PS and 110 PS respectively. The diesel variants come with 1.5-liter TDCi motor developing 100 PS at the wheels.

4. Maruti Baleno:

The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno carries so much expectation up its sleeves especially with the bookings vaulting to 5,000 within four days of its debut.

With the attractive price tag of Rs. 4.99 lakh for the base Sigma variant, the premium hatchback has certainly been a head-turner and will be offered in nine variants across four trim levels (Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha), under two engine categories including CVT petrol variants.

At 4,229 units sold just in October, it is expected to overhaul Hyundai i20 at the end of this month while substantially affecting the sales of Maruti Swift.
