SUPRA is the biggest Formula Student championship in India

SAEINDIA is all set to kick off the 5th edition of SUPRA, the biggest Formula Student championship in India from 4th July at Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, and India’s largest auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki will be partnering with SAEINDIA for this upcoming event.

First introduced in 2011 in the country, the SUPRA offers the engineering students a chance to explore and demonstrate their skill in automobile engineering. The event has been designed according to the Indian government’s Automotive Mission Plan 2016.

supra sae indiaThis event offers the engineering students a chance of practical experience in the designing, developing and manufacturing automobiles, and also evaluates the efficiency and the market relevancy of the prototypes the students make. The event gets support from the Indian automotive industry as well, as more than 100 professionals from the industry come here to help the event in various segments.

In the 5th edition of the SUPRA we will experience an increased number of participation of women which will be around 200, and this clearly suggests women are coming up to take the new challenges in the sector, and to encourage more participation of women contestants two special award category has been announced in the 5th edition of SUPRA. The event will run till 9th July, and a total of 150 teams will participate in the event this time.

Talking about the upcoming event Mr. Prashant K Banerjee, Convener, SUPRA SAEINDIA 2016 & Deputy Executive Director (Technical) Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers was saying, how with the direct help of the Indian automotive industry the SAEINDIA SUPRA has set a high standard in the student formula competitions.

He also explains this event gives the new students a challenge to prove their skills and therefore developing their skills. In the 5th edition of SAEINDIA SUPRA experienced panel of judges including experts from Germany and Russia will test the various aspects of the new technologies students will showcase.
