Royal Enfield Classic 650 will be a retro-themed motorcycle taking inspiration from the top-selling Classic 350; to use the familiar 648 cc parallel twin engine

Royal Enfield is reportedly preparing to launch over six new motorcycles in the current fiscal which include new motorcycles and mid-life updates. The newly formed 450 cc lineup will witness the arrival of Guerrilla 450 neo-retro roadster in the second half of this year to accompany the Himalayan 450, which was introduced a few months ago in India.

The 650 cc portfolio will also be expanded along with inclusion of the Goan Classic 350, a single-seater bobber based on the Classic 350. The flagship 650 cc range saw the market launch of the Shotgun 650 earlier this year. It currently comprises the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650 and SG650 while the Scrambler 650 and Classic 650 will debut next.

The Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 could be dubbed the Interceptor Bear 650 while the Classic 650, as the name suggests, will be a retro-themed motorcycle taking inspiration from the top-selling Classic 350. The Chennai-based manufacturer will look to double its market share this financial year, courtesy of the all-new motorcycles waiting in the pipeline.

Based on the test mules, it appears that the upcoming motorcycle will feature a circular LED headlamp with a silver casing and pilot lamps, along with halogen turn indicators and spoked wheels. The seat will be have a single-piece design, and the handlebar will be positioned upright to enhance touring characteristics. Additionally, the footpegs will be middle set for relaxed riding.

The dual exhaust pipes may not be as steeply positioned as those on the Interceptor and Continental GT. The rear section of the flagship roadster appears compact, and it is possible that some body panels and the design of the fuel tank could be shared with the SG650. However, the subframe appears to have a distinct design from that of the SG650.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 will be powered by the well-known 648 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, delivering a maximum power output of 47 PS and peak torque of 52 Nm. This powerplant will be paired with a six-speed transmission, with a standard slipper/assist clutch. The suspension duties will be handled by telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear.
