Royal Enfield will launch three motorcycles in North American market in summer of 2018; aims bigger market share in middleweight category
Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch three motorcycles in the North American market in 2018. One of them is the Himalayan, while the other two will be the newly unveiled Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. All these three models are expected to boost the motorcycle manufacturer’s dream of grabbing a bigger market share in the middleweight category segment.
Royal Enfield has already displayed these three motorcycles at the Long Beach Motorcycle Show in California. The Royal Enfield Himalayan, first purpose built adventure model from the company will be the first model to launch among these three. It will be available in two different colour options – Graphite and Snow. The motorcycle will be sold at a price tag of $4,499 (Rs. 2,89,814). To lure the buyers, the motorcycle maker will offer a wide range of accessories with this model.
Royal Enfield is already targeting the highly competitive US market with its products like Classic 500, Continental GT and Bullet. Recently unveiled Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are going to play crucial role in the brand’s expansion strategy there. Both these models were unveiled at the EICMA 2017 in Milan and grabbed attention of the enthusiasts across the world. Pricing of these two products for the North American market is yet to be announced.
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will draw energy from an all-new 648 cc SOHC four-valve parallel-twin engine. This fuel-injected engine is capable of churning out 47 PS of peak power at 7,100 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Both the motorcycles use a 6-speed gearbox for transmission duty.
The Chennai-based motorcycle maker has set up a 70 unit strong dealership network across North America. These retail outlets are spread across US, Cana, Mexico. Apart from the motorcycles, it also sells a wide range of accessories and apparel for the enthusiasts.
