Royal Enfield is all set to launch its entry level adventure tourer Himalayan in the United States. Currently, the Chennai-based manufacturer is in the process of getting the certifications done in the US in order to launch the bike there. The launch is part of the brand’s global expansion. The bike has shown a positive response and the adventure motorcycle segment is the only segment that is present in the US, an official from the company said.

Things have been not good for the Royal Enfield Himalayan in India. The motorcycle had been criticized a number of times due to its substandard build quality and hence, did not manage to win hearts completely in its home country. However, there have been some reports suggesting that Royal Enfield had been working hard to eliminate the issues in the bike through silent recalls.

Also, this sale of this motorcycle got suspended a few weeks back as the new BS-IV Fi variant was awaited. Interesting, the company is believed to have worked on improving the quality of the bike behind the scenes. With this, the new BS-IV version is expected to possess a respectable quality and no negative reports have seen the light since its launch.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan now comes powered by a BS-IV compliant long stroke 411 cc engine that has been linked to a five-speed transmission. The fuel injected motor generates a maximum power output of 25 bhp along with a peak torque of 32 Nm. The motorcycle has been equipped with a 300 mm disc brake upfront that couples with a 240 mm disc for the rear.

Prime highlights of the Royal Enfield Himalayan include a tall windscreen, luggage panniers, large 21-inch wheel upfront and a super informative instrument cluster that includes a geographical compass as well. The motorcycle is currently available for sale in the Indian two-wheeler market at a price of Rs. 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
