Royal Enfield design director Pierre Terblanche quits; the ace designer had worked with Volkswagen and Ducati before
Royal Enfield design director Pierre Terblanche has resigned from his post. He has been working with the famous two wheeler maker for last 20 months. The reason behind his resignation is still unknown. Royal Enfield has not commented on his departure yet. He was based on the England office of Royal Enfield.
Pierre Terblanche has worked with Volkswagen MV Augusta, Ducati earlier. At Volkswagen he worked at the German automaker’s ‘Advanced Design Studio’ based in Dusseldorf, Germany. Right from there he joined Royal Enfield in November 2014; where he was responsible for designing the motorcycles. Pierre was actively involved in the designing process of Royal Enfield Himalayan.
Apart from Royal Enfield and Volkswagen Pierre Terblanche has also worked with MV Augusta, Cagiva, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi and Ducati earlier. In Ducati Pierre has designed the motorcycles like HyperMotrad, Ducati Multistrada, X132 Hellcat Speedster etc.
The iconic motorcycles designer has worked with another iconic Italian motorcycle designed Massimo Tamburini. The Ducati 999, launched in July 2002 was Pierre’s most famous work. It was the successor of the multi world championship winner Ducati 916.

Pierre is also known for designing some of the unique motorcycles, including three V12 concept motorcycles. All these three concept models won Motorcycle Design Association Award for Best Design at EICMA in Milan. Pierre has been specially skilled in automotive designing. Born and brought up in South Africa, he did his Masters in Transport Design from the Royal College of Art in London. The 1958 born 60 year old motorcycle designer started his career in Young & Rubicam advertising company in Cape Town. He then used to handle the Ford account.
