Retro Looking Kawasaki W800 Launched at GIIAS 2016

Kawasaki W800 retro motorcycle takes on the Triumph Bonneville; looks like a larger version of the Estrella 250 classic model

Japanese two wheeler manufacturer Kawasaki has launched the W800 at the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2016. The Kawasaki W800 is a retro looking classic motorcycle which is being produced in a limited number. In Indonesian market the motorcycle will be sold in 50 units only, among which 40 units come as special edition model.

Interestingly, the special edition model claims to come fetching more demands from customers. This is why the special edition model comes in larger units compared to the standard version. The retro looking motorcycle looks like a larger version of the Estrella 250. Also the motorcycle gets a retro styling.

The special edition model comes donning an Ebony theme, which makes it very aggressive looking. While the standard version gets an Ocean Blue paint job. The Kawasaki W800 sports a circular headlight, and dual round analog dial consisting instrument cluster. The fuel tank looks trimmed and not muscular. Also the fuel tank dons knee padding at both sides. The exhaust pipes also come finished in black.

Apart from that, the long seat also reminds of the sporty looking motorcycles, we used to saw in our childhoods. The wheels come bearing spokes, which is another retro looking feature of the motorcycle. The mud guards are finished in chrome, and the wheels get black rim.

Power source for the Kawasaki W800 is a 773 cc vertical twin cylinder engine. This engine churns out 48 PS of peak power. Also the motorcycle is European A2 norm compliant. On the suspension front the motorcycle gets telescopic front fork and twin coil spring shock absorbers at rear. A disc at the front wheel and drum brake at rear wheel does the braking duty.

Pricing for the standard model of W800 in Indonesian market is IDR 249 million, equivalent to Rs. 12.72 lakhs. On the other hand, the special edition model is priced at IDR 251 million, equivalent to Rs. 12.82 lakhs. The motorcycle will be imported in Indonesia as a Completely Built Unit or CBU.
