Renault Triber will go on sale in the second half of this year and will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine making 72 PS and 96 Nm

According to a recent report emerged on the internet, Renault Triber will be priced aggressively in the domestic market starting from Rs. 4.4 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and it will go all the way up to Rs. 5.8 lakh for the range-topping model. Furthermore, the extra seats can be installed as the final row giving room to a total of seven occupants at Rs. 3,000 each.

If the speculation is to be believed, the Triber will undercut the Datsun Go Plus by just over Rs. 54,000 in its entry-level specification. However, since the top-end Go Plus costs Rs. 5.94 lakh (ex-showroom), pricing the Triber at Rs. 5.8 lakh (ex-showroom) might sound slightly unrealistic. The Triber will be positioned below the Lodgy which has a starting price of Rs. 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom).

Comparatively, the Triber costs less than half the price of the Lodgy and about Rs. 3 lakh cheaper than the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga if the rumour comes into fruition. The Triber is based on the same CMF-A platform as Kwid with heavy localised content and it measures 3,990 mm in length, 1,739 mm in width and 1,643 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,636 mm.

It has unladen ground clearance of 182 mm and the fuel tank capacity stands at 40 litres. The Triber weighs 947 kg and takes power from a 999 cc three-cylinder dual VVT petrol engine developing a maximum power output of 72 PS at 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm of peak torque delivered at 3,500 rpm. It is connected to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed Easy-R AMT transmission.

The MPV has flexible seating arrangement with second-row folding, reclining, tumbling and sliding function. In the regular five-seater configuration, the bootspace is noted at 625 litres while six- and seven-seat layouts bring it down to 320 litres and 87 litres respectively. In the top-of-the-line variants, the Triber will come equipped with four airbags, reversing sensors and camera while three-point seatbelts are standard.
