Renault will soon launch the all-new Triber in the Indian market. The 7-seater vehicle will be launched as a low-cost alternative to the cars like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. It will be based on a heavily modified version of the CMF-A platform that underpins the Renault Kwid too.
The Renault Triber will measure under four-meters and will get the excise benefits too. The car will also get a unique feature that will allow the users to remove the last row seats of the vehicle. The Triber has been caught testing multiple times under a heavy camouflage on the Indian roads. From the pictures, we can make out that the car gets a thick black cladding at the bottom, that will add a rugged look to the vehicle.
The images also reveal that the all-new Triber will get slightly bigger headlamps that extend to the sides of the vehicle. It will be the second MPV to be launched by Renault in the Indian market after Lodgy. The manufacturer is planning to sell more than 60,000 units of the Triber ever year, which will help the brand to increase the market share.
Powering the Renault Triber likely be the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine that is also available with the Kwid. However, the engine will be tuned to produce more than the Kwid’s 1.0-litre unit. In Kwid, it creates a maximum of 68 PS.
Renault will likely launch the manual and AMT version of the Triber MPV in the Indian market. At a later stage, we can also expect to see a turbocharged version of the petrol version.
Since it will be a low-cost product, Renault will keep the features at a minimal. However, it will offer features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay climate control system, keyless entry, push start/stop, dual airbags, ABS+EBD and more such features. It is expected to get an entry-level price of Rs 5.5 lakhs while the top-end is expected to be priced at around Rs 8 lakh.
