Renault planning to new MPV based on CMF-A+ platform in early 2019 and it is expected to undercut Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in pricing

Renault is currently working on a new MPV and it is codenamed as RBC. The company has commenced road testing of the MPV earlier this year and according to new reports, the French manufacturer is planning to launch the new MPV in early 2019 as it is expected to undercut Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with aggressive pricing.

The RCB is going to be based on new CMF-A+ platform and the company is already using the CMF-A platform in India for entry-level models like Kwid and Redi-Go. Renault has localized this platform heavily in India and it will help them in pricing as the manufacturing will take place at the Chennai plant as the company might make India as an export hub for the MPV.

The design is expected to share some similarities with the Kwid as the front get big headlamps along with similar grille as the hatchback and an updated design for the bumper. The side design is plain like most of the other MPVs and the top end models might come with 14-inch alloy wheels while the lower-spec variants get 13-inch wheels.

Renault has given big windows, which help the cabin feel more spacious and the rear might conventional tail lamps rather than LEDs as it will increase cost. The MPV is expected to get an integrated spoiler and a new bumper. The interior design is going to be similar to the Kwid hatchback to keep cost down.

The MPV comes with safety features like dual airbags, ABS, EBD, speed warning and seat belt reminder. Renault will use the same 1.0 L engine from Kwid and it produces 70 bhp with optional of manual and AMT transmission. We can expect the MPV to return 20 kmpl and it is expected to be priced between 6-9 lakh.
