Renault plans five new models including an Omni Rival, Megane premium sedan, Brezza rivalling Compact SUV, New Koleos and Kaptur

Renault India Pvt. Ltd plans to launch at least five models over the next three years as the brand looks to consolidate its portfolio in the domestic market. As reported by Livemint, Renault confirms to have an aggressive product strategy as it looks to make giant strides on the back of Kwid’s tremendous sales accountability.

As a rapidly growing emerging market in the world, India holds key for the global income of the French manufacturer. An immediate effect is that the existing products will receive updates through the second half of this year. It points at the entry of 1.0-litre engine equipped Kwid and an automatic transmission to rival Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

Unlike leading automakers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, Renault will be focusing more on the SUV segments as it tries to play by its strengths. The newfound love for SUV space across different price range has catapulted Renault’s interest in the category further. The country’s largest SUV maker, Mahindra, will be targetted as a direct rival is set to arrive in another couple of years or so.

The UV segment has seen consistent rise over the last one year with a slew of recent launches from the automakers and Renault looks to be in the forefront of proceedings in the years to come. The newly revealed Megane premium sedan is said to be up for launch next year replacing the less successful Fluence firstly.

Next up is the new generation Koleos which is expected to enter the market towards the end of 2017 or in the opening parts of 2018. It is reported to be heavily re-engineered for Indian customers and will be based on the Renault-Nissan’s jointly developed CMF platform.

It will be followed by the much talked about Kaptur crossover competing in the compact SUV segment against Hyundai Creta. Focussing on the mass market, Renault seems to have planned a van rivalling Omni and Eeco. It is said to be introduced sometime in 2018 before the appearance of Vitara Brezza rivalling subcompact SUV the following year.
