The French manufacturer has already confirmed that new CMF-A platform will underpin different body styles in future

Renault Kwid is the entry-level model of the company in India and it is based on new CMF-A platform, which is developed for emerging markets. The French manufacturer has already confirmed that this platform will underpin different body styles in future and they are currently working on MPV model based on Kwid.

The SUV version of Kwid might be positioned as a Micro-SUV to compete against upcoming Maruti and Hyundai models, which are expected to be introduced in next two years. The design of Kwid SUV will likely be similar to the hatchback as it will look like a grown-up version of Kwid.

Kleber Silva published couple of renderings of new Kwid SUV. The front continues the same grille from hatchback, but the headlamps are slightly bigger even though the design is same and we can expect LED DRLs to be integrated into it. The front bumper is new along with an updated design for fog lamp housing.

The rendering artist has given black plastic cladding running across the body for SUV look and wheel arches will be big with 15-inch alloy wheels, which will go well with the muscular theme of the SUV. The boot lid gets a completely new design and the number plate holder is integrated onto it. The tail lamp design is new and it might be LED lights to make it look unique.

The interior will continue the similar design theme of Kwid and it will come with lots of features like a touchscreen infotainment system, power windows, electrically controlled mirrors and more. The Kwid SUV gets safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder and more.

The Kwid SUV is expected to be powered by 1.0 L 3 cylinder petrol engine producing 67 bhp of power and 91 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. We are not expecting Renault to offer four-wheel drive system with the SUV and the pricing will be aggressive.
