As per the sources, the company is building the production model of the Renault XBA, to be known as the Renault Kayou at RNTBCI (Renault Nissan Technology Business Development Centre India). One can expect the vehicle to offer crossover like design cues inspired from the Datsun Redi-GO concept. This Compact looking crossover like vehicle will also feature a bold grille with diamond logo, large headlamps, striking rear taillight clustered design, centre mounted stoplight and many more such features.

Renault Kayou (XBA) will be the most affordable vehicle in Renault’s lineup

The test mule spotted was the top-range variant as the wheel covers were seen on the steel rim but to keep the cost affordable for the buyers, the company has used some cost cutting measures like usage of skinny tired, single wiper, low cost black rear view mirror with affordable upholstery inside the cabin.

Mechanically, being based on the CMF-A Modular platform, the upcoming Renault Kayou will come powered by the newly designed 800 cc, 3-cylinder petrol mill churning around 45-50 bhp of power mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It is also likely that the Renault might offer the AMT variant immediately from the launch date.

In order to promote the most affordable car in the Renault’s lineup, the company recently released its first promotional campaign with the marketing tagline ‘Live for More’. The video showcases the Mumbai’s two of the very prominent and important landmark- the Bandra-Worli Sea link as well as the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus.

This small car, Renault Kayou is going to come with the price tag starting around Rs. 3-4 lakhs (Ex-showroom) and will be offered in 3-4 variants. The space inside the cabin and the price being its USP, once launched, the Renault Kayou is sure to affect the likes of the Tata Nano variants, Maruti Alto, Datsun Redi-Go and Hyundai Eon like models.
