The 50,000 examples of Renault Kwid recalled are reported to have disruption in fuel supply system; manufactured between October 2015 and May 2016

Renault India has recalled 50,000 units of Kwid hatchbacks, as these cars have been reported to having a faulty fuel supply system. The French automaker will inspect the affected cars free of cost and add a fuel hose clip to the affected cars if needed. The affected Kwid 800cc models have been manufactured between October 2015 and May 2016.

Renault India has already started contacting the respective customers and requesting them to come to dealerships to get their cars inspected. While Renault has recalled around 50,000 units for inspection, reports suggest only 10% of the recalled cars are actually impacted by the problem.

Renault Kwid was launched in September 2015, and since then it has proved to be one of the bestselling model in Indian market. The company sells around 8,000 units of Kwid every month. Kwid single-handedly made India as the sixth largest global market for the French auto manufacturer. In the first half of this fiscal year, Renault has sold 56,028 units of Kwid.

The car appears like micro-crossover with its rugged and muscular look. In terms of features inside the cabin as well, Kwid is much more impressive compared to its rivals. Renault initially launched Kwid with a 0.8-litre petrol engine, but later it introduced a 1.0-litre engine to the car, which has enhanced the car’s appeal further.

The 0.8-litre variant of Kwid is available between price range of Rs. 2.64 lakhs and Rs. 3.73 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 1.0-litre variant of the car, which was launched in August, 2016, is priced between Rs. 3.83 lakhs and Rs. 3.96 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car is about to see a price hike of around 2% before this Diwali.
