Renault Duster sales increased due to the new facelifted version for the second consecutive month
Renault launched the Duster SUV for the domestic market on March 2nd and it came equipped with an all-new automatic transmission. The French manufacturer introduced the new Duster strategically but despite it coinciding with the market entry Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the sport utility vehicle enthusiasts haven’t certainly let it down.
Although the Kwid small hatchback’s contribution in making 132 per cent YoY sales surge for the brand last month is gigantic, the Renault Duster has backed it up quite well. Of the 8,343 Renault cars sold in May 2016, 1,764 were the new facelifted Duster. On its own, the potent SUV recorded a sales growth of 23 per cent as 1,764 deliveries were made.
It’s against 1,429 Dusters sold in the corresponding month last year. The Renault Duster Facelift has gained an EASY- R AMT six-speed transmission, revised front fascia and a tweaked rear-end design. The Duster Facelift measures about 4,315 mm in length, 1,82 2mm in width, 1,695 mm in height and 2,673 mm in wheelbase with a ground clearance of 205 mm.
Anti pinch window, rearview camera, automatic climate control, improved centre console layout, dual-tone soft touch dashboard, eight-way adjustable driver seat, front and rear armrest, new fabric upholstery, cruise control and eco drive mode are some of the other significant features.
The compact crossover derives power from a 1.6-litre K4M petrol engine producing 104 PS and 148 Nm of peak torque and comes coupled to a five speed manual. A 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine has been made available with two states of tune. 85 PS power and 200Nm torque with five-speed manual and 110 PS power with 245Nm torque mated to six-speed manual transmission while an optional AWD system is also offered. The AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variant comes with 110 PS 1.5-litre diesel engine with two wheel drive system.
The new Duster gets all-new Hawk eye headlamp cluster, single piece front grille with honeycomb design, new fog lamps, 16 inch gunmetal alloy wheels, waterfall-styled tail lamps, Kayak roof rails, 7 inch MediaNAV system, Crimson Black interior alongside a new colour scheme called Cayenne Orange.
