Renault Plans To Launch One Car Each Year In India

Renault is emphasising on sub-four metre cars; 70% of the brand’s sales attributed to this category

Renault is aiming to increase its market share in the country and in order to achieve that the French brand is focusing on introducing new models in the domestic market. Renault plans to launch at least one car each year here and majority of these models will be in the sub-four metre segment. The brand says 70% of its overall sales come from sub-four metre segment.

Renault currently sells three models in the domestic market that are Kwid hatchback, Duster SUV and Lodgy MPV. The fourth model is going to be the Captur premium SUV that launches later this month. In order to streamline its business in India, Renault has discontinued four models that are Koleos, Fluence, Scala and Pulse.

Kwid hatchback has been the bestseller from the brand in the country. It has made India one of the top six global markets for Renault. Inspired by the success of Kwid, Renault announced every year, it will introduce two variations of this model in the country. The brand has introduced Renault Kwid Climber here few months back.

While sub-four metre category brings the brand majority of the sales number, SUV segment has seen the fastest growth. With the arrival of Captur, Renault hopes its SUVs will bring more fortune to the brand. Apart from introducing new models, Renault is also widening its dealership network aggressively across the country in order to boost its sales.

As Renault says, it is aiming to build a consistent growth strategy, under which new models, specially the SUVs and sub-four metre category models will play crucial role. As we reported earlier, Renault hopes to boost its laggardly sales in the country with the Captur. The brand believes Captur SUV will fetch around 20,000 units of sales in 2018 and it will. Apart from that, the brand’s upcoming Duster facelift too is going to play an important role for the growth of the brand here.
