Renault Alaskan Unveiled – Brand’s First One Tonne Pick-up

Renault Alaskan is a rugged looking pick-up that will be initially sold in Latin America

Renault unveiled its first one tone pickup truck Alaskan in Latin America. The pickup truck has been unveiled in Colombia initially, and it will go on sell in other Latin American markets soon. Later the French auto manufacturer plans to launch it in other global markets. The company believes it will help the brand to capture a fare share of the global utility market.

The Renault Alaskan pickup truck has been designed closely following the Alaskan concept which was unveiled last year. The vehicle is available in both the single, double and chassis cab configurations. As the company claims, it will not only serve the utility purpose, but the vehicle can work as a family commuter as well.

Renault Alaskan pickup truck the vehicle sports a rugged and very aggressive front fascia. Horizontally slated front grille gets V motion design with diamond pattern brand logo at the centre. It reminds us about the Renault Captur crossover’s front grille. The wrap around headlamp clusters look sharp. LED daytime running lights are integrated to the headlamp clusters.

Front bumper looks beefy with chrome garnished fog lamps and skid plate. Apart from that the car features aggressive alloy wheels, aluminium foot plate, muscular character lines, and vertically positioned tail lamps. Clearly, the Renault Alaskan has been built for tough jobs.

Inside the cabin the Alaskan pickup comes pretty impressive. It features a multifunction steering wheel, dual analog dials and a TFT display at the instrument cluster. The centre console houses a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system flanked with control buttons. Alongside the cabin also features heated front seats, dual zone climate control etc.

Power sources for the Renault Alaskan are a range of engines comprising both petrol and diesel units. The petrol engine is a 2.5 litre four cylinder unit generating 160 hp of peak power. The diesel front gets two options, a 2.3 litre biturbo dCi and a 2.5 litre unit.

Expect the diesel engines to churn out power output between 160 hp to 190 hp. Transmission options include a 6 speed manual and a 7 speed automatic gearbox, while the pickup will be available in both RWD and AWD configurations.
