The Niken is based on Yamaha MT-09 naked sports bike but the company has completely changed the parts for the three-wheeler
Yamaha is one of the companies which are working on technologies for the future and new segment. The company research and development team is one of the best in the two wheeler industry and the projects like Motobot which is a self riding bike shows how much advanced is the company in new autonomous technologies.
Yamaha wowed the crowd when they revealed Niken leaning three-wheeler at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Since then the company has showcased the radical three-wheeler in almost all the major shows across the world and the now they have final launched the Niken in UK and it is priced at Rs. 12.39 lakh which is a premium price for a three wheeler.

The Niken is available to order online in UK and customers will get email from the company regarding the temporary allocation of Niken. Then customers can visit their nearest Yamaha dealership to see the Niken and confirm the order in 14 days. The Japanese manufacturer is betting big on three-wheeler segment.
Yamaha recently acquired patents from a company called Brudeli which focuses on designing and developing leaning three-wheelers. The company is working on new leaning technologies with KTM 690 Supermoto engine and gearbox as the base for the project. The Niken is based on Yamaha MT-09 naked sports bike but the company has completely changed the parts for the three-wheeler.

The design is completely different from MT-09 and the striking part is the leaning mechanism which works with the front two wheels. The Niken is powered by same 847 cc three cylinder engine from MT-09 producing 114 bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 87.5 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. But the performance won’t be in the same league as MT-09.
The naked sports bike tips the scale at 193 kgs but the niken is 69 kgs heavier because of the added parts and the suspension. But the Niken will be faster than any other three wheelers in the industry. Yamaha is focusing a lot on three-wheeled machines and we can expect lots more product from Yamaha in this segment in the near future.
