The electric version of the Tata Curvv will go on sale in the second or third quarter of this year before the arrival of the ICE variant
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 has begun today in New Delhi and has several manufacturers showcasing their latest products and technologies. Chief among them is Tata Motors, which has revealed the third iteration of the Curvv concept. First unveiled in April 2022, the more evolved version of the Curvv concept made its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Now, Tata has lifted the cloaks off the production-ready Curvv, showcasing the latest design traits similar to the recently facelifted Nexon, Harrier and Safari. The front fascia comprises a swooping bonnet and below which the horizontal LED light bar and piano black finished grille with new inserts and Tata logo are present.
The vertically positioned LED headlamps with black surrounds, a wide hexagonal grille for the air intake on the bumper, and a faux skid are other highlights at the front. Elsewhere the Curvv gets muscular wheel arch surrounds in a glossy black finish, smart door handles, large-sized wheels in a sporty design, and aggressive side door trims.
The SUV coupe design is the major distinctive factor with a notchback-like boot giving a large storage volume. The rear is more dramatic with a sculpted tailgate, full-width LED light bar for tail lamps in a futuristic finish. Below the light bar, the Tata logo, Curvv wording and a busy rear bumper with vertical reflectors and reverse lights in a single housing, and a skid plate can be noted.
The Tata Curvv concept showcased is equipped with a 1.5L turbo four-cylinder diesel engine found in the Nexon, producing 115 PS and 260 Nm. It will be paired with a six-speed MT or an AMT upon its launch. The new-gen 1.2L DI turbo petrol engine kicking out 125 PS and 225 Nm is also expected in the ICE version with MT and AT options.
The Curvv EV will be underpinned by the Acti.ev platform debuted in the Punch EV and will likely be offered in two battery packs. The claimed driving range for the larger battery will be well over 500 km on a single charge and the electric SUV coupe will be packed with features and technologies on the inside including Level 2 ADAS.
