RE Shotgun 650 is expected to go on sale in the coming months and its global debut could happen at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan

Royal Enfield has been testing a number of new motorcycles for the Indian as well as global markets including a series of new 650 cc models. The homegrown retro manufacturer introduced the Hunter 350 a few months ago and it has been well received amongst customers. Last month, nearly 18,200 units were sold as it finished very close to the best-selling Classic 350.

At the 2021 EICMA show in Milan, Italy RE showcased the SG650 concept and its production version could debut at this year’s show in November. While the brand has not made it official yet, it could very well be the case considering that the production-ready model has been spotted testing quite a few times already on Indian roads.

Here we have shown you spy images of the upcoming Shotgun 650 and in comparison to the spy pictures of the old prototypes, we could see some changes. The engine crash guard and auxiliary lights were not available in this test mule while the traditional mirrors come in place of the bar end units. The alloy wheels look pretty basic in design as well with a Y shape.

However, some of the elements we have seen thus far could be offered as accessories and the list may include panniers, a taller windscreen, new seat and a lot more. The front end comprises a circular-shaped LED headlamp unit and the round-shaped tail lamp with chrome surrounds will also carry LED lighting. Other highlights are side-mounted twin exhaust pipes, upright handlebar positioning and minimalistic body panels.

The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will likely sit on the same platform as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. It is expected to use the same 648 cc parallel twin-cylinder air- and oil-cooled fuel-injected engine, which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a six-speed transmission.

The equipment list will boast a standard slipper and assist clutch, disc brakes at the front and the rear assisted by a dual-channel ABS system, a semi-digital instrument cluster with Tripper Navigation, first-for-RE upside-down front forks, twin-sided shocks, tubeless tyres, etc.
