Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS British Legends Edition honours Le Mans winners Richard Attwood, Derek Bell and Nick Tandy
Porsche has introduced a new special edition version of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS as a commemoration to the British racing drivers who have won at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans in Circuit De La Sarthe, France. The limited production-run British Legends Edition honours Richard Attwood, Derek Bell and Nick Tandy for their successes at the illustrious race.
The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS ‘British Legends Edition’ carries a lot of tradition as the German manufacturer is the most successful in the history of the 24 hours race. Through the years, a total of 19 victories have been achieved and two of them came from Richard Attwood and Nick Tandy in 1970 and 2015 respectively.
The legendary Derek Bell has won Le Mans four times in 1981, 1982, 1986 and 1987. The popular sportscar racing driver has competed in several demanding categories across the globe but Porsche has been his most auspicious manufacturer. The limited edition 911 GTS was designed by Porsche’s Great Britain arm in association with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.
There are some unique touches to all the three title-winning Porsche drivers as the British Legends Edition gets identified by number of their winning cars and respective colour schemes incorporated in the exclusive livery. Another highlighting aspect is the inclusion of Union Jack combined with each driver’s signature.
Powering the 911 Carrera 4 GTS is the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 450 hp and 550 Nm of peak torque. Combined with the PDK transmission, it helps the model to go from zero to 100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds. The unique changes continue onto the inside as well.
Each unit sold is finished by hand in Porsche’s new Exclusive Manufaktur workshop. It comes fitted with Alcantara interior trim in the steering column casing, door mirrors finished in satin black, carbon floor mats with Alcantara edging and so on. Customers will have the option to choose between a manual and a dual-clutch PDK automatic gearbox.
