The Platina 110 is the first Bajaj bike to get Anti Skid Braking system and it will be introduced in other models soon
Bajaj officially commenced sales of Platina 110 sales in India and it comes with a new engine along with some mechanical updates to make it potent. One of the biggest addition to the new Platina 110 is CBS (Combined Braking System) and Bajaj market it as Anti Skid Braking, which is introduced to meet the new safety rules.
All bikes above 125 cc must come with ABS braking system as standard while bikes below 125 cc get Combined Braking System, which is cost effective compared to the expensive ABS. The Platina 110 comes with drum brake at front and rear drum as standard but the company also offer front disc brake as an option.
The Anti-Skid Braking system will reduce the braking distance compared to regular braking. This system works when we apply one brake lever it applies both front and rear brakes with the help of an equaliser. Bajaj is expected to introduce this system on most of their bikes below 125 and the deadline for introducing this system is April 2019.
The company is planning to introduce ABS system on Pulsar range from early 2019 and most of the entry level Pulsar models will come with single channel ABS in which the front wheel only it get it while the rear wheel get a sensor just to monitor the speed and slip, this same system is also used in KTM Duke 125 & 200.
The flagship Dominar 400 come with dual-channel ABS system sourced from Bosch and the KTM Duke and RC series also use this. The Anti-Skid Braking system is expected to be priced with a minor hike but the ABS system will cost anywhere around 10,000 – 20,000 depending on the model and the system (dual/single).
The Platina 110 is powered by 115.5 cc single cylinder DTS-i air-cooled single cylinder engine from Discover 110 and it produces 8.5 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and 9.8 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 4-speed gearbox and comes with new inverted Nitrox gas-filled shocks at the rear and telescopic forks at the front. Bajaj has priced the Platina 110 aggressively at Rs. 49,300 (Ex-Showroom).
