The credit for a whopping 105 percent sales growth of Piaggio scooters goes to Aprilia SR 150 that presents itself as a great value for money package

Piaggio has clocked its highest ever sales in the scooter segment in the month of September 2017. During the period, the Italian manufacturer sold a total of 9,100 units of Vespa and Aprilia SR 150 scooters. The attractive sales numbers for the company were a result of the festive season during which the sale of vehicles in India are on an all-time high.

Piaggio Group sold a total of 50,400 two-wheelers in India during the first nine months of 2017. This is a splendid number for the company as it managed to sell 24,600 vehicles for the same period in 2016. Having said that, the brand recorded a majestic growth of 105 percent. The sale of company’s scooters in the Indian two-wheeler market had a share of 16.8 percent in the brand’s global sales. The Aprilia SR 150 is the biggest contributor to this growth.

The Aprilia SR series of scooters are available in multiple engine options in the international markets. India only gets the SR 150 keeping the market demand and price sensitive nature of the market in mind. Piaggio does manage to price the SR 150 competitive in the Indian two-wheeler market, which is indeed one of the biggest USPs of this scooter.

Few months back, the downsized version of the Aprilia SR 150, better known as SR 125 Motard was spied at a dealership in Bengaluru. This indeed gave birth to a healthy possibility that the scooter might be launched in India and give a more affordable choice to the buyers who wish to own a SR scooter.

Recently, there have also been reports which suggest that the existing Aprilia SR 150 will get an update in near future. The company will reportedly equip this scooter with an adjustable suspension. As the name suggests, this will help the rider adjust the suspension settings as per his or her convenience.

The brand has decided to bring in this update to the scooter as Piaggio has been receiving complaints about the stiff suspension setting of the scooter. We are really hoping to see the new SR 150 along with more scooters arriving under the Aprilia SR umbrella in the future.
