Peugeot 3008 will lock horns with rivals like Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta upon launch in India by 2020
Peugeot is all set to re-enter Indian market with its new global standard products. The PSA owned French auto major is likely to start its India operations by 2020 and 30008 SUV could be the first product to arrive here. This muscular looking SUV will lock horns with established and popular rivals like Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
PSA Group has already partnered with CK Birla Group for its India operations. The group has purchased the Ambassador brand as well that ignited the rumor that the iconic brand could be relaunched here. Under the partnership between PSA and CK Birla Group, Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation Limited (HMFCL) will oversee the sales and distribution of the cars in India and AVTEC Ltd will manufacture powertrains for the India-spec Peugeot models.

The French automaker is aiming to penetrate the market deep with localised production that will help it to keep the pricing competitive against rival brands. The compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive and highly in demand category in domestic auto market. Peugeot is ready to enter that segment with its 3008 SUV.
The Peugeot 3008 SUV comes with a premium vibe and it boasts a very muscular stance. Inside the cabin too, this SUV is loaded with high end advanced features capable of luring the buyers. Based on the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP), the India-spec Peugeot 3008 SUV is expected to receive both petrol and diesel engine options and transmission options will include both manual and automatic gearbox.

Peugeot has planned to make an initial investment of Rs. 700 crore for its production plant in Tamil Nadu. The plant is expected to roll out around 1 lakh units of cars per year at the initial phase and the number would be beefed up later. Before Peugeot launches the 3008 SUV here, we can expect the car to be displayed at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo alongside some other products from the brand.
