Petrol Powered Maruti Ignis Fetches 95% Of Its Total Sales in July 2017

Maruti Suzuki Ignis’ petrol variants registered 4,208 units last month which was in stark contrast to the diesel models that sold only 227 units

Maruti Suzuki Ignis has received positive response within short period after its launch here. Focused on millennial buyers, the Ignis has been able to sell more than 4,000 units every month on an average. Sold through the premium Nexa dealerships, this car has registered 4,435 units in July 2017 with 95% of the total sales attributed to petrol powered model.

The petrol powered Maruti Ignis sold 4,208 units in last month, while the diesel powered model registered 227 units only. Launched in January this year, it has sold 31,797 units in last seven months. A major part of this sales number has been contributed by petrol powered and AMT equipped models. Apart from the fresh styling and premium features, the AMT gearbox has helped in enhancing its appeal to the young age customers.

Price reduction after the implementation of GST has also helped in boosting the sales of Ignis. Under the new tax system, Maruti Suzuki Ignis has become cheaper by around Rs. 3,000 – Rs. 4,000 compared to its pre-GST era pricing. Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis comes priced between Rs. 4.56 lakh and Rs. 7.54 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Derived from the Suzuki i-M4 concept, Maruti Ignis is available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine as well. Transmission options for this car include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT in both petrol and diesel powered models.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis comes with a pretty interesting design. It looks a micro SUV with its compact look. It sports projector headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. Apart from that, it also gets muscular flared wheel arches, sporty alloy wheels, turn indicator integrated ORVMs etc. Inside the cabin, it gets multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster, a tab-like touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console. Overall, the car comes with a perfect package of style and premiumness with efficient powertrain options.
