Skoda Octavia RS 245 uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI four-cylinder engine producing a maximum power output of 245 horsepower
Skoda sells the performance-spec Octavia under RS or vRS badge in the international markets. It has been a popular model from the Czech manufacturer in India as well and made a comeback in September 2017 sporting the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 230 PS.
The response from the customers was impressive as the first batch of 250 units was sold out in no time and the demand stayed for long. In an official teaser video, Skoda Auto India has today revealed that the vRS will be back and it is launching soon.
The teaser video has given away some details as the 14-second clip shows that the vRS is based on the existing generation Octavia with dual split headlamps with integrated LED Daytime Running Lights, trapezoidal exhaust system on each end and vRS badge mounted on the black front grille.
India will be getting the more powerful 245 PS version this time around and it could debut in the star-studded lineup planned for 2020 Auto Expo, which will include the conceptual version of the upcoming MQB A0 IN based mid-size SUV.
The Skoda Octavia RS 245 uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI four-cylinder engine producing a maximum power output of 245 horses, in a similar fashion to the equivalent Golf GTI, and is claimed to sprint from zero to 100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds.
Power is transferred to the front axle through a VAQ differential and a standard six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission in global markets. Besides the dual split adaptive headlamps, the Skoda Octavia RS 245 adorns black front grille with matching door mirror housings, bigger 19-inch alloy wheels with sportier black rim pattern, wider air inlets and an aggressive front bumper.
It sits 15 mm lower on a 30 mm wider rear track and at the rear features boot lid spoiler and sharper C-shaped tail lamp. The interior comes with heated and electronically adjustable front seats finished in Alcantara leather, glossy black trim, standard lap timer and an eight-inch infotainment system with WiFi hotspot.
Another key feature in the Octavia RS 245 is the electronically limited-slip differential.
