Due to the two-motor configuration, the standard Tesla Model 3 is upgraded to all-wheel-drive configuration and it will have a top speed of 250 kmph
Tesla’s head Elon Musk has stated that a performance version of its entry-level Model 3 is in the works. As often he does, the American businessman took to Twitter to reveal the fascinating technical information of the dual-motor setup on the electric car that has been caught in production delays due to the demands sustained worldwide.
It won’t be a variant for the masses as the performance-based Model 3 will cost more than twice as its regular sibling. The price bracket puts Tesla right in the range of some acclaimed hardcore models. The top-end version is already claimed to be 15 percent faster than BMW’s popular M3, along with better handling characteristics.

Due to the two-motor configuration, the standard Tesla Model 3 is upgraded to all-wheel-drive configuration and it will have a top speed of 250 kmph. Musk said it will be able to regular up to 500 km on a single charge and can accelerate from zero to 96 kmph in just 3.5 seconds.
The above numbers are for the performance version of the Model 3’s dual-motor system while a normal variant with presumably less expensive price tag will also have 500 km range but it is about a second slower. For reference, the standard Model 3 uses a rear mounted electric motor with 258 horsepower output and 430 Nm torque generation. It does 0-96 kmph in 5.6 seconds.

Musk further explained that the motor in front is optimised for power and the other at the rear for range. Even during a breakdown of one motor, the other can drive the car to reach the destination. Including all the options, the performance model will be priced at $78,000 (Rs. 53.07 lakh) without Autopilot function – at almost the same price range as BMW M3.
The Tesla Model 3 AWD is also said to be capable of beating “anything in its class on the track”. Musk is known for his audacious tactics in selling products and the performance claims the upcoming Model 3 has, especially being boldly endorsed to beat M3, is something we would have to close watch at.
