The teaser video shows Kodiaq RS tackling Nurburgring in the hands of race driver Sabine Schmitz to fine tune the handling

RS models from Skoda are known for their excellent performance and razor sharp handling. But over the years, RS model lineup has been reduced and the company is giving more importance for volume models. The only RS model left in Skoda’s portfolio is Octavia RS which is available in both petrol and diesel models. We were expecting Skoda to re-introduce Fabia RS model.

Instead, the company has given green signal for Kodiaq RS model which was not expected. The company released first teaser of Kodiaq RS earlier this week and the second teaser video shows Kodiaq RS tackling Nurburgring in the hands of race driver Sabine Schmitz to fine tune the handling of new model before the public debut at Paris Motor Show in October.

Skoda-Kodiaq-RS-teased-ahead-of-debut-2But Skoda will officially reveal Kodiaq RS online prior to the launch in August. But Kodiaq RS misses out some on RS spec essentials like manual gearbox which gives lots of fun for the driver and petrol engine which won’t be available as Skoda will introduce Kodiaq RS in diesel model only and the engine might not have same level of performance as other models.

Skoda Kodiaq RS will be powered by new 2.0 L four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which debuted in new Passat as this engine produces 237 hp of power at 4,000 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. This engine could be mated to 7 speed or 8 speed DSG gearbox and the power will be sent to all four wheels.

The suspension will be lowered than normal version along with stiff suspension set up will give excellent handling characteristics for Kodiaq RS. Like the normal model, Skoda will give the option of 5 or 7 seats, so that you can take your family on week days and go out for corner carving with lots of luagage space for weekend getaway.

Skoda will also make some changes for exterior design to make the Kodiaq RS look sporty and aggressive which include new body kit with reworked front and rear bumper. The headlamps and tail lamp will be smoked with black finish for alloywheels and contrasting roof colours round of the exterior changes. The interior might get all black treatment with contrasting stitching. We can expect Skoda to introduce Kodiaq RS in India next year.
