Mahindra Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic have more than 1.3 lakh pending orders while over 80,000 units of the XUV700 are yet to be delivered

Mahindra & Mahindra has been reaping the benefits of its latest launches such as the new generation Scorpio N and the updated version of the old Scorpio dubbed the Scorpio Classic. The homegrown manufacturer finished fourth in the overall sales standings last month with a healthy YoY positive growth of close to 61 per cent.

The contribution of the Scorpio range should not be undermined though as it was responsible for a total of 7,438 unit sales as against 3,304 units during the same period last year with a YoY surge of 125 per cent. It was the second most sold nameplate for the brand in the domestic market in the month of October 2022.

Besides the Scorpio, Mahindra has the XUV700 performing impressively in garnering sales numbers. The monocoque platform based XUV700 was easily the most anticipated product from Mahindra in recent memory and it has certainly lived up to the hype with powerful engines offered in an extensive range and a premium interior.

Currently, Mahindra has over 1.3 lakh pending orders for the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic combined. The former has a waiting period of up to 24 months for the Z6 and Z8 variants while the Z4 commands a waiting of up to 21 months. However, the prioritised Scorpio N Z8 L AT can be taken home in under four months as it has seen a big drop in the waiting period recently.

Amidst rolling out around 17,000 units of the Scorpio range every month, Mahindra will ramp up the production by the final quarter of next FY. The base MX and AX3 petrol variants of the XUV700 have waiting period of only one to two months but it goes up to ten months for the respective diesel trims.

Moving up the order, the AX7 and AX7 L petrol and diesel variants command a waiting period of up to 15 months. Last month, Mahindra sold 5,815 units of the XUV700 and has more than 80,000 pending orders. The production capacity will be increased from 6,000 to 10,000 units by the first quarter of CY 2024.
