Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is sold in both engine options; gets either white or red exterior paint job with black roof
Skoda Auto India listed a new version of the Rapid sedan on its official website in the 2017 space earlier this year. The latest generation Skoda Superb premium executive sedan was launched last year and during which the Czech Republican company’s Managing Director Mr. Sudhir Rao said the future resolutions are high as they would push boundaries to attain double digit market share.
Part of that ambitious strategy, to increase the volume sales between 16,000 and 17,000 units, is the facelifted Rapid midsize sedan’s sportier version christened as Monte Carlo. The facelifted Rapid went on sale late last year with substantial exterior revisions alongside improved interiors. Since then, it is averaging over 900 units of sales monthly. With the Monte Carlo coming in, the sales could increase further. Here is everything you need to know about the special edition:
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Exterior
The styling cues are influenced by the European market’s Rapid. It means that the sedan’s exterior comes in line with the global design language adopted by Skoda as seen in the facelift already. It has glossy black grille and surround, mean-looking 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels, blackened bumper and wing mirrors, black tinted glass, smoked headlamps, black spoiler lip, sporty rear diffuser, etc.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Interior and Features
On the inside, the cabin will feature subtle revisions like new upholstery and red stitching, leather wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, red stitching on gear shifter, cruise control, aluminium finished pedals, front centre armrest, black finish on AC vents surround, automatic climate control system, dual rear AC vents, MirrorLink system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electrically adjustable ORVMs and so on.

|1.5-litre diesel||110 hp and 250 Nm torque|

Under the bonnet, however, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will likely continued to be powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol engine puts out 105 hp and a peak torque of 153 Nm while the diesel motor produces 110 hp and 250 Nm peak torque. The two transmission options will be a standard five-speed manual and a seven-speed DSG automatic as optional on diesel where as petrol gets a five-speed manual or a six-speed auto.
Skoda has been investing over 100 crores in the after sales department and they seem to be reaping benefits in improved customer service and satisfaction. With the Monte Carlo having launched at starting price of Rs. 10.75 lakh (ex-showroom), it will be followed by the sporty RS version of the Octavia and the all-new flagship Kodiaq SUV in the next quarter. Excitingly, the latest addition to Skoda’s global lineup, the Karoq SUV, is also being considered for our domestic market.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo special edition has white or red painted exterior but the roof will be black. Other important features include dual-front airbags, ABS, ESC, hill hold control, daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, cooled glove box and rain sensing wipers.
