Nissan is gearing up to re-launch its flagship SUV in India. The Japanese automaker showcased the X-Trail Hybrid at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier last year in February. The test mules of the car have been spotted several times in the last few months and the production version is expected to enter the domestic market sometime later in the year.
Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is based on the CMF platform and incorporates the new generation design language of the Japanese company. Interestingly, the X-Trail is likely going to be the only hybrid SUV in India for around Rs.30 lakh and that is a niche for itself. Nissan is yet to reveal the pricing details of the X-Trail Hybrid and it could be launched sometime late this year. Expect the SUV to be available in a single trim and could be priced around Rs. 30-35 lakh.
Therefore the stylish car will be the only Hybrid SUV in its price range. Nissan is expected to import the car to India via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. It will get the tax benefits for being a hybrid vehicle.
Combined, the hybrid powertrain churns out 188 PS of peak power and 367 Nm of peak torque. An X-TRONIC CVT gearbox does the transmission duty. The car is very unlikely to come in an All Wheel Drive configuration.
Incidentally Nissan launched the X-Trail in India with a 2.0 litre dCi diesel engine. But now the automaker has no plan to launch the diesel version in the country. Nissan believes, the high price of the diesel car will [play a negative role in the overall sales.

The car offers plenty of headroom, leg space and knee roof to the rear occupants in terms of space. The tailgate comes with power assisted function, and it swings out nearly 80%.
