Nissan is gearing up to re-launch its flagship SUV in India. The Japanese automaker showcased the X-Trail Hybrid at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier last year in February. The test mules of the car have been spotted several times in the last few months and the production version is expected to enter the domestic market sometime later in the year.
Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is based on the CMF platform and incorporates the new generation design language of the Japanese company. Interestingly, the X-Trail is likely going to be the only hybrid SUV in India for around Rs.30 lakh and that is a niche for itself. Nissan X-Trail Hybrid India Launch, Price and Variants
Nissan is yet to reveal the pricing details of the X-Trail Hybrid and it could be launched sometime late this year. Expect the SUV to be available in a single trim and could be priced around Rs. 30-35 lakh.
Therefore the stylish car will be the only Hybrid SUV in its price range. Nissan is expected to import the car to India via CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. It will get the tax benefits for being a hybrid vehicle.
Nissan X-Trail Hybrid Engine and Specifications
The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid is powered by a 2.0 litre MR20DD naturally aspirated four cylinder petrol engine. The petrol engine pumps out 147 PS of peak power and 207 Nm of peak torque. The internal combustion is combined with a RM31 electric motor. The electric motor kicks out 41 PS of peak power and 160 Nm of peak torque.
Combined, the hybrid powertrain churns out 188 PS of peak power and 367 Nm of peak torque. An X-TRONIC CVT gearbox does the transmission duty. The car is very unlikely to come in an All Wheel Drive configuration.
Incidentally Nissan launched the X-Trail in India with a 2.0 litre dCi diesel engine. But now the automaker has no plan to launch the diesel version in the country. Nissan believes, the high price of the diesel car will [play a negative role in the overall sales.

Dimensionally Nissan X-Trail Hybrid measures 4,640 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,715 mm in height. The car sports a wheelbase of 2,705 mm. The Nissan X-Trail Hybrid SUV is a pretty stylish car. The car is built on the CMF-C platform, which has been developed by the Renault Nissan alliance. The premium mid size SUV gets sharp wrap around headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. The car features a chrome garnished V shaped motion grille.

Nissan X-Trail Hybrid dons a sporty black theme inside the cabin. The cabin features a three spoke multifunction steering wheel. The instrument cluster gets two large round analog dials and a TFT display in between them. The dashboard comes baring little bit of silver accents which makes the interior more stylish.
The piano black centre console gets a touchscreen infotainment system. The touchscreen also works as a 360 degree bird’s eye view display of the surrounding of the car. Apart from that, the interior also gets front and rear arm rest, dual zone climate control. Plush leather seats ensure premium comfort for the occupants.
The car offers plenty of headroom, leg space and knee roof to the rear occupants in terms of space. The tailgate comes with power assisted function, and it swings out nearly 80%.
