The Nissan X-Trail will be the first one to launch in India after the completion of its local road testing and it will be followed by the Qashqai

Nissan India has today hosted an event in New Delhi announcing its future plans for the domestic market. As expected, the Japanese auto will look to double down on its global expertise as it will be evaluating to launch some of its products via CBU (Completely Built-Up) route and three SUVs from its international range have been showcased as well.

The company has commenced the local testing of a few of its global models in India including the Qashqai, which has also been unveiled locally. The other two are the highly successful Juke and X-Trail SUVs and they are also being evaluated for a market launch in the near future. A few days ago, we showed you spy pictures of the X-Trail.

The Nissan X-Trail will become the first one to be launched in India as soon as the testing completes. It has the potential to take on Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas G4, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tiguan, etc in the full-size seven-seater SUV segment in India and is available with a hybrid powertrain (VCR Turbo Mild Hybrid 12V, e-Power and e-Power e-4orce) as well elsewhere.

It will be available in India with the range-topping hybrid mill. The Nissan Qashqai is one of the popular models sold by the brand and its sales numbers stand at over 5.5 million units across 80 global markets since its debut in 2007. It has a Euro NCAP safety rating of five stars and is also available with connected car technology and hybrid powertrains (including e-Power).

It must be noted that the Nissan Juke’s hybrid technology is derived from the brand’s expertise in Formula E. In the international markets, the 2023 Nissan X-Trail is retailed with the updated 2.5-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine developing 181 hp and 245 Nm, and is paired with a CVT. The e-Power variant uses a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which acts as a generator for the electric motor.

It has a total system output of 201 hp in Europe in its front-wheel drive guise while a four-wheel drive configuration is restricted to the e-4orce variant.
