Nissan will officially reveal the India-spec Kicks on October 18th and sales will begin from January 2019, it is going to compete against Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster
Nissan is planning to increase the portfolio with the introduction of new Kicks compact SUV and the India-spec model will be officially revealed on October 18th, but the launch will take place only in January and it is going to take on Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur in the price range of Rs. 10-14 Lakh.
The Kicks will be positioned above Terrano in the portfolio. Nissan officially revealed the concept version of Kicks in 2014 and the company introduced the production model in 2016. Even though Kicks was developed for emerging markets, the company has also launched the model in the US as a replacement for Juke.
Nissan kicked off the teaser campaign of Kicks with a couple of sketches and India-spec model will be slightly different to the global version as the company made some design tweaks at front and rear. The India-spec Kicks dimensions will be slightly bigger and it will help the company to offer more space inside the cabin.
The company decided to use low-cost M0 platform of Duster to keep cost down as the platform has been heavily localized for the Indian market. The global spec Kicks is based on advanced V-platform and it will be expensive to manufacture in India, which is why the company decided not to bring the new generation of Micra also.
The interior design is expected to be carried over from the global model with new three spoke multi-function steering. We can expect material quality to be par among with rivals and the compact SUV will be packed with features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, cruise control, automatic headlamps, reverse camera and more.
The Kicks will also come with safety features like 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Traction Control and Speed Alert. The engine lineup for Kicks includes 1.5 L petrol engine with 108 bhp and 1.5 L K9K diesel engine with 109 bhp. Both these engines come with manual transmission and CVT will be offered only with a petrol engine.
