Nissan Kicks will be a Hyundai Creta rival that will launch in January next year, it will have a starting price of approx Rs 10 lakhs
Nissan India will launch the new Nissan Kicks SUV to rival the Hyundai Creta. While the new SUV will launch in January next year, it will be unveiled later this month, on 18th. The new SUV could have a starting price of Rs 10 lakhs. It will be placed above the Terrano in the company’s product portfolio. The company has already revealed official sketches to tease the new model.
The international-spec Nissan Kicks made its public debut in 2014 in a concept avatar. The production version was introduced in 2016 in Brazil. While it was initially supposed to be sold only in the developing market, it was later launched in the US, where it replaced the Juke. The India-spec version will be finally unveiled in a few days from now. While it will feature a similar design, there will be many differences between the Indian and the international model.
The exterior will carry most of the design elements found on the international version. The biggest change will be due to the larger dimensions for the local version. Thanks to the bigger size, the SUV could look a bit bolder. The bigger proportions are sure to make a higher impact.
The Nissan Kicks for India will be underpinned by the low-cost B0/Logan platform. In comparison, the international version is built on the V platform that is more modern. Usage of the low-cost platform will let Nissan India price the new SUV aggressively.
A similar dual-platform strategy was seen in the Renault Captur, which is bigger than the global version and uses the B0/Logan low-cost platform. It measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, and 1,590 mm in height.
Powering the Indian version of the Nissan Kicks SUV will be the same engines that are used in the Renault Duster. These include the 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine that is available with a 5-speed MT or a CVT and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that is available with a 6-speed manual transmission or an AMT.
