Nissan Kicks will launch in January 2019 and will rival Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-Cross

Nissan India is will soon reveal the India-spec Kicks. The Nissan Kicks SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-Cross and is expected to cost Rs 10-13 lakh. A Nissan Kicks SUV test mule with only little camouflage has been caught on video. The spy mule has a dual-tone white-black paint shade, like what its sibling, the Renault Captur, offers.

The production of the Nissan Kicks SUV, which is a premium five-seater SUV that can be viewed as the logical successor to the Nissan Terrano, has commenced at the company’s production facility in Tamil Nadu. The Kicks that is about to launch in India will be special as it will be bigger than the international version. Nissan India will make sure the prices remain competitive by using the B0 platform of the Terrano. The new SUV is 4,384 mm long, 1,813 mm wide, and 1,656 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,673 mm.

In spite of the different platform and the bigger dimensions, the design of the India-spec Nissan Kicks SUV will be inspired heavily from the international version. You will find a similar V grille at the front, with sharp LED projector headlamps that will have LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The side profile will be all about bold creases and a large greenhouse with a quarter-glass near the A-pillar. The company will offer various dual-tone paint options.

The Nissan Kicks SUV will offer a long list of features, which will include a first-in-segment 360-degree around view camera with object detection. Other than this, you can expect it to offer a touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents, multi-function steering wheel, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, and auto-dimming IRVM.

Other than using the tried and tested B0 platform, the car will even get the same engines as the Renault Duster. This means you can opt for either a 1.5-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel. The former develops 106 PS and 142 Nm while the latter produces 110 PS and 240 Nm. Transmission choices for the Nissan Kicks SUV will include both manual and automatic units.

The Nissan Kicks SUV will be responsible for helping its manufacturer find more buyers. Right now, with a really dated product lineup, which includes models like the old generation Micra , the company has been performing poorly on the sales chart. Its new Hyundai Creta rival, however, just might be what the doctor has ordered.
