Hyundai has commenced development of third generation Grand i10 and it is expected to be launched in 2019

The i10 family has done very well for Hyundai in India and global markets. The second generation model made its debut in 2013 and received a facelift last year to improve sales, which has worked well but the competition is heating up and the government is going to introduce new safety norms next year.

Hyundai has commenced development of third generation Grand i10 and the test mule has been spotted on public roads for the first time last month. IAB published a rendering of the production version of Grand i10 based on the initial spy shots. The front gets signature cascading grille of Hyundai and the design will be similar to the one on new Elantra.

The Hyundai logo will be placed on top of it with swept-back headlamps and integrated DRLs in it. The company has also given a new design for the fog lamp housing. We can expect the current body shape to continue and top end models will come with 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels along with integrated indicators on ORVMs.

The rear will get new LED tail lamps along with an updated design for the bumper. The interior is going to be more premium and quality will certainly improve. Like all other Hyundai models, the Grand i10 will be packed with lots of features to attract more customers to the hatchback.

The dashboard design is expected to be in line with other Hyundai models and it gets floating touchscreen infotainment system on top of the dashboard along with climate control, rear AC vents, steering mounted controls, cooled glove box, electronically controlled outside rear view mirrors, keyless entry, push button and more.

The new Grand i10 will come with standard safety features like dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, reverse parking sensors and more. Hyundai will continue to offer the same engines from the current model as the 1.2 L Kappa series engine with 81 bhp and 1.2 L CRDi engine with 74 bhp. These engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox from Santro. The launch is expected to take place in 2019.
