The next-gen Hyundai Verna rendering has been styled in coherence with the facelifted Elantra; launch likely in 2020
Hyundai Verna has been through several visual makeovers in its lifespan in India, and the latest iteration can be considered as one of the best yet. You would be forgiven for thinking that it is an Elantra at the first sight. The Verna fights in a segment where the exterior design can make or break the customers’ buying decision as Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz have their own following – after all looks are subjective.
While rumours shrouding the next generation Hyundai Verna have surfaced on the internet far too often already, its styling upgrade remains a mystery. Worry not then, as we have legit rendering of how the upcoming C-segment sedan would probably look like. Courtesy of a Behance user, the next-gen Verna has been styled in coherence with the facelifted Elantra that has gone on sale recently in some international markets.
With the South Korean automaker usually committed to keeping the same lineage on Verna, we could be seeing the same sharper design cues on its forthcoming generation. The rendering signifies the 2020 Hyundai Verna with a cutting-edge front fascia boasting sleeker headlamps, side-tilted triangle shaped fog lamps and a slimmer cascading front grille encompassing horizontal slats.
The rear package is equally impressive with a stubby boot section and sporty tail lamps wrapping around the sides. The next generation Verna is due in 2020 reportedly and will have a new pair of petrol and diesel engines with 1.5-litre capacity each. Sticking by the stringent BSVI emission norms coming into play from April 2020, they will be engineered to meet the government standards.
The diesel powertrain appears to undergo a slight bit of downsizing and is said to make 115 horsepower and 250 Nm peak torque. To firmly compete against Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, it is believed to feature a capable 48V mild-hybrid system as well. Alongside the exterior updates, it is only logical to think that the cabin will be inspired by the Elantra with updated connectivity features.
We can expect the next generation Verna to follow the launch of the new Elantra with updates as in the international-spec version. When that comes into fruition, we can be more certain of craving for similar styling changes on the next generation Hyundai Verna by the end of this decade. It will play a big role in Hyundai’s aim of manufacturing two million cars by H1 2021.
