Next-Gen BMW 3-Series Spotted In India Again, Launch Later This Year

The seventh-generation BMW 3-Series has been spotted testing in India again and it is expected to be launched later this year. The 3-Series is one of the most popular models of BMW in India and around the world. Like its predecessor, the new 3-Series will be assembled at the Chennai plant.

2019 BMW 3-Series is based on the CLAR platform, which is also the base for 5-Series and 7-Series model, the new model is 55 kgs lighter which will improve the dynamics along with the efficiency of the executive sedan. BMW has increased dimensions of 3-Series as length has been increased by 76 mm, width by 16 mm and height by 1 mm.

The 3-Series measures 4,709 mm length, 1,827 mm width and 1,441 mm height. The wheelbase has been increased by 41 mm to 2,851 mm and it will improve space inside the cabin. The new generation 3-Series comes with 480 litres of boot space, which is an increase of 36 litres over the current model.

The exterior design theme of new 3-Series took inspirations from the 5-Series and 7-Series as the signature kidney grille is wider and it extends towards the full LED headlamps. The front bumper gets a new design along with new alloy wheels and the company has given new LED tail lamps at the rear. The M-Sport package will make the 3-Series look sporty.

The interior design is also completely different from the current generation model and it is similar to the new X5 and X7. The 3-Series gets a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with BMW Live Cockpit professional system and the 10.25-inch infotainment system gets the latest software of BMW with different controls.

BMW has packed the new 3-Series with lots of features like ambient lighting with 16 colours, Harmon Kardon music system with 16-speaker, bigger head-up display, leather seats and more. In India, 3-Series will be powered by 2.0 L petrol engine with 285 PS and 400 Nm, the diesel engine is also a 2.0 L unit with 190 PS and 400 Nm. Both engines mated to 8-speed auto gearbox and it will compete against Mercedes-Benz C Class, Audi A4 and Jaguar XE.
