The more premium version of the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will likely go on sale towards the end of next month in India capitalising on the festive season

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has the S-Presso as its next big launch in the domestic market and it will go on sale on September 30. Towards the end of next month, the largest carmaker in the country will likely be debuting a more premium version of the latest generation Wagon R, just in a similar fashion to the XL6 based on the Ertiga.

It will help in expanding the Nexa portfolio that has been affected by drastic drop in sales volumes since the beginning of this year due to industry slowdown. We brought you the exclusive pictures of the more upmarket Wagon R a few days ago and based on them, the model has been rendered giving you in-depth look into what is in store.

To have a clear differentiation over the standard Wagon R that received a major makeover only earlier this year, what could be called as the XL5, will have cosmetic updates. The exterior gets the now-trending split headlamp setup with the main headlamp positioned in the middle and above which the slimmer LED Daytime Running Lights are present.

Other highlighting features include a redesigned front bumper as well as a brand new upper and lower grille. A thick chrome strip connects the grille with Suzuki badge in the middle. The round-shaped fog lamp housing is equally new and underneath the lower grille, silver-finished underbody protection exists. The Ignis-derived 15-inch black alloy wheels, sportier wheel arches, black roof rails and wing mirrors can also be seen in the rendering.

At the rear, it gets high-mounted stop lamp and LED tail lamps that are different from the regular tall hatch. It will have raised ground clearance of around 180 mm to give a more appealing stance and the rendering is finished in the signature Nexa blue colour. The all-black interior is expected to feature added equipment alongside new seat upholstery and latest SmartPlay infotainment system.

The Nexa-bound Wagon R takes power from a 1.2-litre K-series three-cylinder petrol engine with BSVI compliance and is connected to either a five-speed manual or five-speed AMT transmission. The motor kicks out 83 PS at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,200 rpm.
