New generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to launch within the next two months in India with a host of changes inside and out

The all-new Swift debuted globally at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo late last year and was later launched in its home market of Japan. The compact hatchback’s new iteration has already been spotted testing multiple times, showcasing similar changes to the global model and it will likely go on sale within the next two months in India.

Production of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to begin in the coming weeks. Additionally, its compact sedan sibling, the Dzire, is slated to receive a significant update following the launch of the new-generation Swift later this calendar year. The exterior design has undergone an evolutionary approach this time around.

The upcoming model features a redesigned grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern, revised headlamps with new LED Daytime Running Lights and a reworked bonnet. Additionally, it sports new front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, updated fog lamp housings, and redesigned tail lamps to bring an overall refreshed appeal.

In the new model, the rear door handles have been relocated to their traditional position, and new color schemes are expected to be offered as well. Additionally, an integrated spoiler and high-mounted stop lamp will be present. Inside the cabin, notable updates will be made to further elevate its premium appeal and new features will be available too.

The equipment list will include a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, multiple airbags in the top-end variants, a semi-digital instrument cluster, steering wheel with mounted controls, adjustable headrests, new surface materials and trims.

However, it’s possible that some of the high-end features found in the global model may not be offered in India. Under the bonnet, a new 1.2L three-cylinder Z series mild-hybrid petrol engine will come in place of the existing 1.2L K series mill. The updated powertrain is expected to deliver improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. It will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options, with a CNG variant also in the vicinity.
