Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest carmaker in volume and the company offers lots of models at each price point. The company today launched the much-awaited second generation of Ertiga in India and it is priced in the similar price bracket as Vitara Brezza compact SUV.
Both the models adhere to different set of customers but it will be interesting to see how they pan out on paper and which has been priced the best. In this article, we are comparing both the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV and Vitara Brezza SUV:
New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga vs Vitara Brezza Design
The body style of both models is completely different as Ertiga is an MPV and Vitara Brezza is a compact SUV. The Ertiga gets an all-new design theme compared to its predecessor as they have taken inspiration from popular models. The front gets a new grille and the projector headlamps is brand new. The MPV also has redesigned front bumper with a new design for fog lamp inserts.
The side has new shoulder line starting from the front wheel arches and goes all the way to the tail lamps. The third-row window gets a new design and the alloy wheels come with a different pattern while the tail lamps took inspiration from latest Volvo models. The reflectors are integrated into the new bumper. Overall, the exterior design is appealing.
The Vitara Brezza, on the other hand, is designed to be an SUV as the front gets sporty grille along with the bumper designed to give a muscular look. The black plastic cladding running across the body along with high ground clearance gives an SUV look. The rear design is simple with LED tail lamps and faux skid plates at front and rear. The design is subjective and you can’t go wrong with either model.

The second generation Ertiga is 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 5 mm taller than the outgoing model but the wheelbase remains the same at 2,740 mm along with same turning radius and fuel tank capacity. The trunk capacity has also grown by considerable manner.
When compared to Vitara Brezza, the sub-four meter compact SUV, it doesn’t offer the same level of space as Ertiga, but the boot capacity is bigger as it is a 5 seater while Ertiga is a seven-seater. When second and third rows folded, the Ertiga will ensure more than 800 litres though as it is 400 mm longer than the SUV.

New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga vs Vitara Brezza Interior And Features
Maruti Suzuki has redesigned the interior of Ertiga and the new model get dual-tone colour dashboard theme with improved quality. The Vitara Brezza, on the other hand, gets a simple design theme, which is familiar for people as the model is so popular in the country. But features list of both models are appreciable.
The Ertiga and Vitara Brezza both come with SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, multi-function steering wheel, keyless entry, push button start, reverse camera with parking sensors, alloy wheels, automatic projector headlamps, rain sensing wipers and more.
Leather-wrapped steering wheel with wood finish, faux wooden touches, voice commands, reverse parking camera, 15-inch wheels, chrome door finish, push button start/stop, automatic climate control, ESP and Hill Hold Control in AT variants are other important features in the new Ertiga.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets an all-new 1.5 L petrol engine, which made its debut in Ciaz and it produces 105 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto. But the Vitara Brezza is not offering with a petrol engine and the engine on Ertiga comes with SHVS mild-hybrid technology, which improves efficiency.
The diesel engine on Ertiga and Vitara Brezza is same as the 1.3 L unit produces 90 PS and 200 Nm, but Maruti has added SHVS technology in Ertiga which improved its efficiency and the MPV returns 25.47 kmpl compared to 24.29 kmpl of Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV has an advantage over Ertiga as the diesel engine also gets an AMT gearbox as an option.

Both Ertiga and Vitara Brezza is available in four variants – L, V, Z and Z+. The Ertiga price starts at Rs. 7.44 lakh compared to Rs. 7.8 lakh of Vitara Brezza, but the entry-level model is petrol and the diesel variant price starts at Rs. 8.84 lakh. The top end variant of Vitara Brezza is priced at Rs. 10.55 lakh compared to Rs. 10.90 lakh of Ertiga. These two models are targeted at different customers even though the pricing is close.

The newly launched Ertiga and Vitara Brezza are the best selling models in their respective segments.
