The second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will make its official debut in India on November 24 and the company has officially opened bookings across the country. We have already reported that the new Ertiga price is expected to start at Rs. 6.6 lakh for the LXi variant and it is loaded with may top-notch features like
1. Projector Headlamps
Maruti Suzuki has given a new design for the headlamps, which is bigger than the outgoing model and the MPV comes with projectors as a standard feature in the second generation model.
2. Reverse Parking Camera with sensors
The reverse parking camera is available from base variant with sensors, which will help the driver to park the MPV easily.
3. 7-seat layout
The MPV continues the 7 seat-layout as the company decreased boot space by 32 litres to improve space on the second and third row. The middle row gets 60:40 split with reclining and sliding seats while the third row gets 50:50 split seats with reclining feature also.
4. Dual front airbags
Safety is going to be very important for customers and the company has given dual front airbags as standard. We can expect higher variants to come with more airbags.
5. ABS and EBD
All variants of new Ertiga will come with ABS and EBD, which will improve braking performance.
6. All 4 Power Windows
The MPV comes with four-door power windows as standard and passengers will certainly appreciate it as winding down windows are not so popular especially in this generation.
7. All new 1.5 L 104 PS petrol engine
Maruti Suzuki developed a new 1.5 L petrol engine, which made its debut in Ciaz earlier this year producing 104 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearbox.
8. Smart Hybrid Technology
The SHVS technology comes with idle start/stop system, which will definitely improve efficiency, especially in city driving conditions.
According to ARAI, the new Ertiga perol returns 19.34 kmpl, which makes it one of the most efficient petrol models in its class and the automatic variant returns 18.69 kmpl.
10.Tilt Adjustment Steering
Most of the modern cars come with tilt adjustment for steering, but it is reserved for higher spec variants and Maruti is offering it from entry level model onwards.
11. 3D, LED taillamps
The Ertiga gets Volvo inspired tail lamps and the company has given LED instead of regular bulb as it gives a premium look for the MPV at night.
12. Dual Tone Interior
The interior is finished in black colour for the dashboard and beige colour for the interior.
13. MID with Coloured TFT
The instrument cluster of the new model is different and the multi-information display placed in the middle is a coloured TFT screen, which gives lots of information about the MPV.
14. Speed-Sensing Door Autolock
The Ertiga comes with speed sensing auto-lock door as a safety feature, which can make a world of difference, especially in a people mover with kids.
15. High-Speed Alert
According to new government safety rules, the high-speed alert system must be standard in which one beep goes off at 80 kph and if speed crosses 120 kph, then a beep will become non-stop and customers won’t be able to turn it off.
Even though Maruti has given lots of features in the entry-level model, it misses out on certain key things like a music system and remote control locking, but it can be added as an accessory from the showroom itself. The top end model will come with lots more luxurious features to lure buyers from other segments and the aggressive pricing will certainly help the company to get a good start for the new model.
