New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross Rendered With Mean Styling

New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross

The Ertiga Cross gets same headlights and grille from the standard model, but the bumper has been borrowed from S-Cross for a muscular look

Suzuki officially revealed second generation of Ertiga today at Indonesia International Motor Show. Indonesia Automotive Design published a rendering of Ertiga with some changes to make it look like a crossover. The Ertiga Cross gets same headlights and grille from the standard model, but the bumper has been borrowed from S-Cross for a muscular look along with black plastic body cladding which runs across the body.

To continue the crossover theme black plastics moulding are placed on the side and skid plates at front and rear. The roof and mirrors have also been blackened along with the addition of a roof rail. We like this cool rendering, but the chances of it making into production are very small as Ertiga is placed an MPV and the customers won’t prefer it much.

The second generation Ertiga is based on HEARTECT platform and the design is different from the outgoing model. Even though the basic boxy design has been carried forward, the front and rear looks more attractive. The interior of Ertiga also gets a new design theme but we can see so many parts coming from Swift and Dzire like the steering wheel and instrument cluster.

In Indonesia, the Ertiga is powered by new 1.5 L petrol engine producing 105 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. This engine is mated to 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic. Maruti will officially introduce next generation Ertiga later this year in India.

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga RearWith its launch expected to happen in August, the same design updates followed in the Indonesia-spec Ertiga will be carried forward. The standard Ertiga is longer and wider than the outgoing model and it accounts for more passenger room. However, the bootspace has decreased by 32 litres in comparison. With refreshed interior and exterior, the new Ertiga looks more upmarket as well.
