New Maruti Suzuki Dzire has many changes that make it more stylish and appealing with improved interior, economy, safety and cabin space
Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Dzire compact sedan in India finally. It comes with several changes across exterior and interior. The powertrain remains same, but thanks to the new platform performance has been improved significantly as well. Overall, the car becomes more upmarket and more stylish compared to the old model with steep increase in pricing at the top-end but with a cause of being more appealing to a slightly higher grade of customers. Priced between Rs. 5.45 lakh and Rs. 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the new Dzire is also safer and features packed to justify the price.
Here we take a look at all the changes introduced to the new 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire:
1. India’s Most Fuel Efficient Car
The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes as the most fuel efficient car in the country with 28.4 kmpl offered by the diesel model and 22 kmpl returned by the petrol model. This means the all-new Maruti Dzire comes 6.8% and 5.5% more fuel efficient for diesel and petrol models respectively compared to the previous model.
2. Projector Headlamps with LED DRLs
The new Dzire gets sharper headlamps with projector lamps and integrated LED daytime running lights. This certainly enhances the visual appeal and upmarketness of the compact sedan. Also, it provides better illumination and better safety on road. The headlamps come with a laid back appearance and they incorporate a flowing style as well.
3. Larger Front Grille and New Front Bumper
The new Maruti Dzire compact sedan has received a completely new and larger front grille with plenty of chrome garnishing and horizontal slats. The rounded look of the hexagonal grille enhances the car’s visual appeal along with an all-new front bumper. The bumper gets wider horizontally slated air intake, black fog lamp housing highlighted by chrome trims.
4. More Wider
Dimensionally, the new Maruti Dzire is 40 mm wider than the old model, as it comes measuring 1,735 mm in width compared to the old model’s 1,695 mm width. Also, the new Dzire is 40 mm shorter than the previous model as it measures 1,515 mm in height compared to the old model’s 1,555 mm height.
5. Reduced Ground Clearance for Better Stability
The New Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with 7 mm of reduced ground clearance at 163 mm, while the previous model has 170 mm of ground clearance. This reduction has been made in order to make the new model more stable even during high speed run and it enhances the aerodynamic efficiency as well.
6. Extra Wheelbase Improves Rear legroom
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire gets 20 mm of extra wheelbase as it comes measuring at 2,450 mm compared to the old model’s 2,430 mm of wheelbase. Thanks to this increased wheelbase, leg space inside the cabin has increased by 55 mm offering the rear occupants more comfortable sitting experience.
7. Three New Colours
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire has received three all-new exterior paint options that include Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown and Gallant Red. Apart from these three colours, the compact sedan is available in three other colour options Magma Grey, Silky Silver and Pearl Arctic White retained from the previous model’s colour pallet.
8. Extra Boot Space
New Dzire compact sedan comes with 62-litre of extra bootspace increasing the total storage capacity to 378-litre, compared to the previous model’s 316-litre storage capacity. With this, the new Dzire is capable to carry more luggage at the boot space than its predecessor.
9. Baleno Inspired Stylish Side Profile
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire’s side profile appears to have taken design inspiration from the Maruti Baleno premium hatchback. It incorporates a flowing design with fewer creases, increasing the visual appeal. Apart from that, the bigger glass area, excellent body to glass ratio, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, new design precision cut two-tone alloy wheels are other design elements visible at the side profile. The floating roof design has been removed as well.
10. Upmarket Full LED Taillights
Rear profile of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire compact sedan remains more or less identical to the previous model. But the taillights have been tweaked and they come as complete LED enhancing the car’s premiumness and style further. The taillights appear compact and with a wraparound look and they are connected by a horizontal chrome bar.
11. Sporty Flat Bottom Steering Wheel
New Dzire gets a completely new three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with sporty flat bottom appearance. Also, it gets faux wooden finish and this enhances the car’s appeal further. The flat bottom style steering wheel makes the new Maruti Dzire much more appealing than its competitors.
12. Dual Pod Instrument Cluster
Maruti Suzuki left no stone unturned in making the new Dzire more attractive and appealing than the previous model. The new dual-pod instrument cluster is one of the new design elements visible inside the cabin and it incorporates twin analog dials and a large digital MID at the centre showing various informations.
13. Touchscreen SLDA System with Stereo Control
The touchscreen infotainment system with Smartphone Linkage Display Audio (SLDA) is certainly a very premium and necessary feature for the compact sedan in order to lure more customers towards it. The touchscreen infotainment screen not only shows information about the car’s system, but also provides stereo control. Interestingly, this is slightly tilted towards the driver side to provide better driver ergonomics.
14. Premium Triple Tone Interior
The all-new 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with a triple-tone interior theme incorporating three layers. This certainly makes the compact sedan very attractive and appealing. Compared to the conventional Black and Beige dual-tone interior theme, the new Dzire compact sedan gets triple layering of Black, Beige and Wooden finish. 16. Updated Seat and Upholstery
New Maruti Dzire compact sedan has received improved quality seat and upholstery material ensuring more upmarket vibe inside the cabin. The seats have become more comfortable and the ample headroom along with 20 mm extra shoulder room for the front passenger and 30 mm extra shoulder room for rear passengers ensure a very comfortable experience for all the occupants inside the cabin. This has happened due to the 40 mm enhancement of width.

The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes based on a completely new and lightweight Suzuki HEARTECT platform. Thanks to this, the car has become more fuel-efficient and handling capacity has increased as well. Also, despite being lightweight, the architecture is pretty rigid offering protection to the occupants inside the cabin.
