New Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Achieves 7,002 Unit Sales In Its First Month

New Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sales have got off to a great start with 7,002 units sold in August; managed to garner nearly twice as much volume of Verna

Maruti Suzuki introduced the updated version of Ciaz C-segment sedan last month in India and it has managed to attract 7,0002 unit sales in its first month. With 8 percent growth compared to the same period in August 2017, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sales have got off to a great start and it will only be fair to follow the numbers it crunches in the coming months and observe its consistency against rivals.

In August 2018, the new Ciaz has achieved 3,602 units more than the second-placed Hyundai Verna in the midsize sedan segment. Taking the arch rival Honda City into account, the difference stood at 4,212 units and Toyota Yaris could only garner 1,047 deliveries in total last month. Maruti Suzuki has priced the new Ciaz competitively in the market and is one of the significant reasons for its good reception among buyers.

With base price at Rs. 8.19 lakh for the Sigma petrol, the it goes up to Rs. 10.97 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec Alpha trim in both petrol and diesel. It can be ordered online or at official Nexa outlets with Rs. 11,000 initial payment. The facelifted Ciaz adorns a slew of visual updates along with noticeable interior changes.

On the outside, it gets a sharper front fascia with revised headlamps and integrated LED DRLs, newly designed bumper with prominent fog lamps and wider air inlet, a set of new and sporty alloy wheels, tweaks to the tail lamps, etc. The major inclusion is the presence of a new 1.5-litre, K15B, four-cylinder petrol unit.

It replaces the 1.4-litre petrol mill and uses Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS technology to develop 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm. It is mated to either a standard five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

The first Maruti Suzuki model to have a dual-battery setup has claimed class-best mileage of 21.56 kmpl for petrol manual and automatic versions. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel version has stayed put until a new BSVI compliant engine with bigger cubic capacity replaces it eventually. The DDiS unit develops 90 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque.
