Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) will be introducing its new generation Ertiga in the Indian market next as a launch has been scheduled on November 21. The top-selling budget MPV in the country will become more premium in its new iteration and have a potent rival in the form of Mahindra Marazzo.
The seven-seat is currently retailed in 12 trims and takes power from a 1.4-litre petrol engine making 95 PS and 130 Nm. It is all set to make way the newly developed 1.5-litre, K15B, four-cylinder unit that debuted in the Ciaz facelift. It produces 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque at 4,400 rpm.
It is connected to a five-speed manual as standard while a four-speed auto will be provided as an option. The in-house developed SHVS idle start/stop mild hybrid engine is ARAI-certified to return 19.34 kmpl as we can exclusively reveal – up from 17.5 kmpl in the outgoing powertrain. The AT, on the other hand, delivers 18.69 kmpl – a big improvement from 17.03 kmpl.
The regular 1.3-litre DDiS diesel mill generating 90 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque will continue and has its mileage tweaked as well. It is claimed to have fuel economy of 25.47 kmpl at an increase of nearly 1 kmpl from the existing engine. The improved mileage figures do consolidate Ertiga’s position as the most fuel efficient in its class.

The 2018 Ertiga is based on the lightweight Heartect platform with improved driving dynamics and has a heavily updated exterior and interior. The second generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga made its world premiere in Indonesia back in April 2018 and has larger proportions compared to the current model while retaining same wheelbase.
The Ertiga is one of the biggest contributors for Maruti Suzuki in terms of consistent sales and over the last 12 months averaged well over 4,000 units monthly. With several standard safety features and an upmarket interior, it is expected to reinforce its dominance in the segment.
